Pros and Cons of Micromax Canvas HD and Lava Iris 504Q
The Micromax Canvas HD and the Lava Iris 504Q are two superb phablet devices for the one in search of a mid-range Android device. These handsets have some high-end features such as the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, 5 inch HD screen and many more. The Canvas HD is the successor to A110 Canvas 2, the well-known budget phablet of Micromax. Enhancements brought by the company to this device are quad-core chipset, HD display and twice the RAM as that of the predecessor. Meanwhile, Lava is aiming to have a blast on the mid-range device segment of the market. Let us discuss the pros and cons of these devices.
Micromax A116 Canvas HD
Pros
This device looks like an enlarged variant of the Galaxy Nexus. It is built with a 5 inch IPS LCD display having resolution of 720p delivering good quality and superb rendering of color. This device performs smoothly with high speed as it is powered by a Quad core 1.2 GHz Cortex A7 processor along with PowerVR SGX544MP graphics processor and enhanced 1 GB RAM.
The Canvas HD has a 2 MP front facing camera along with a 8 MP rear camera that features LED flash, touch focus, auto focus, burst mode and video recording at 1080p. Connectivity features are quite good with facilities of 3G enabled HSPA+ speed up to 21 Mbps, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Class 12 based GPRS and EDGE and micro USB port.
Cons
The camera is really bad being unable to shoot at low light conditions while its 4 GB ROM is inconvenient too. Not of that good build quality as it gives a feel of cheap plastic and its 2000 mAh battery is the most irritating stuff.
Lava Iris 504Q
Pros
Unlike the Micromax Canvas HD, the Iris 504Q is fabricated with good build quality along with an eye catching curved design having matte-plastic, something that provides good grip on its back lid. This makes it fingerprint resistant and comfortable to hold in a single hand. Its display is bright and sharp delivering good and effective colours.
Touch response is quite good so that a game such as Temple Run works well and smooth. Performance of this device is soothing with no lag when multiple tasks were being performed.
Cons
The camera of this device shoots clear and sharp images in daylight but still we specify it as average because of the disability to shoot video with proper focus. The battery is not that supportive when using it over a 3G connection or while playing games or performing surfing tasks. This device’s GPS is a complete nonsense as it is incapable of staying connected to the signals.
Verdict
Both Micromax Canvas HD and Lava Iris 504Q have their own pros and cons and are kind of real competitors. But, as a matter of fact, the Lava Iris seems to be a bit better considering its design, display and performance. Well, every individual has his or her own choices and preferences and hence your decision rests on you.
