Taiwanese company Foxconn, a leading manufacturer of electronics and computer components, announced the updated lineup of nettops NanoPC models A3550 and A3700.
These tiny computers are gaining increasing popularity worldwide due to a number of indisputable advantages, including compact size, extremely low power consumption and, last but not least, a reasonable price. Models A3550 and A3700 have replaced nettop Foxconn A3500, having a greater number of slots for upgrades (added internal USB 2.0 port and an optional miniPCI-E slot for expansion modules) and a greater variety in the choice of configuration. A3550 is based on dual-core 1.6 GHz processor AMD E350 Zacate, has integrated graphics AMD Radeon HD 6310 and memory support DDR PC-1066 while another NanoPC A3700 is equipped with a powerful 1.65 GHz AMD E450 and the graphics card AMD Radeon HD 6320. A3700 can be equipped with memory DDR3 PC-1333 up to 16 GB.
Ability to establish himself desired amount of memory and hard drive size you want (it supports all SATA-drives in the 2.5-inch form factor, as well as a 1.8-inch solid state drives) makes Nettops attractive in the eyes of professionals. It has integrated slot for interfacing of the monitor (set to the standard VESA-mount), a complete silence, and a wide range of communications. To communicate with the outside world, both models are equipped with the latest nettop wireless adapter Intel Wireless-N in 1000 with support for IEEE 802.11b/g/n (here lies another difference from its predecessor A3500 Adapter Atheros and an external antenna now antenna for wireless communications in the hidden housing). A set of external ports is very wide – two connectors USB 3.0, four USB 2.0, HDMI-and DVI-video output, network, digital audio S / PDIF, microphone input and headphone jack. This multi-media center has support for Full HD video resolution.
Foxconn A3550 and A3700 are available at the price of $ 220 and $ 230 respectively, they consume 70% less energy than comparable desktop computers, while still excellent coping with everyday tasks. Text and tables, surfing the Net, studying, watching movies and photos – all features are available on the nettop in full.
Foxconn is expected to sell NanoPC models A3550 and A3700 in July 2012.
