Acer launched its e-reader-sized tablet named Iconia W3 tablet PC which is the one and only 8 inch tablet option available in the present market. In fact, more devices of the same size will be announced and released in the near future for sure. Well, this amazing device runs on the Windows 8.1 operating system of Microsoft and comes with a genuine price tag according to the stuff packed in it. Let us discuss about the specs and features of the device in detail.
Design
The design of the W3 looks alike to the Iconia W510 except for its minimized size, having a gray plastic back cover along with a white colored ring on the sides and front. It is much light weighing 1.1 pounds and is compact giving an easy grip to the hand. It has a chunky shape with softened edges and rounded corners.
There are not many ports. The power or lock button, micro-HDMI ports and micro-USB ports are situated on the left side while on the right, the speakers, charging port and the 3.5mm audio jack are placed. On the top, the volume buttons along with the microSD card slot are located while the cameras are on the front bezel and on the back as usual.
Keyboard
Get the full-sized Bluetooth keyboard paired with the tablet at a separate price of $80 and this makes the total device a nasty stuff. Well, the keyboard is quite good except for its size as it is enabled with proper deep and well-placed keys with spaces.
Display
This amazing tablet device is built with an 8.1 inch display which resembles a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels and this is something that is not that satisfactory. However, the display’s colors are well-balanced along with a fair pixel density.

The W3 runs on the Windows 8 Pro operating system of Microsoft and is powered by a Dual core, 1800 MHz Saltwell processor. It is also enhanced by an Intel Atom Z2760 chipset along with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3650 graphics processor.
Storage
This tablet PC from Acer is enabled with a system memory of 2048 MB RAM and a built-in storage of 64 GB. It is also facilitated with microSD and microSDHC as external storage expansions.
Camera and Connectivity
The cameras of this device are quite surprising. It has a rear facing camera and a front facing camera both of 2 Mega Pixels. Even of not that good, video calling can be carried out in a little better way.

The Acer Iconia W3 grants you with the advantages of a dual-core processor, number of RAM and HDMI connector for TV-Out. Its disadvantages are lack of autofocus in the camera, low pixel density display, lack of flash in the camera and the lack of ambient light sensor which would have facilitated with automatic screen brightness and other adjustments.
